How it works.
Four steps from a message to a live website, and every question we are asked, answered plainly.
- 01
You tell us about the business
Send your business details, services, contact information and your logo if you have one, using the form. We confirm the content, delivery timing, payments and any external costs in writing before we begin. Nothing is charged for enquiring.
- 02
We draft the whole site
We write the text, source the images and build the pages for your package. We use AI tools to work quickly, and a person on our team reviews everything. If you would rather use your own photos and wording, send them.
- 03
You approve it in your portal
You preview the site on a staging copy in your private portal and approve it with one click, or ask for changes. Nothing is published until you approve it. AI-assisted text can contain mistakes, so please read it carefully.
- 04
It goes live, and we look after it
Your site goes live on your own domain. The 6-month minimum term starts that day. Hosting, HTTPS, backups, monthly checks, uptime monitoring, fault repairs and your monthly support time are all in the price.
Questions and answers
Something missing? Ask us.
What is the catch?
There is no setup fee. Building your site is covered by the monthly price across a 6-month minimum term, so you pay nothing for the design, the writing, the build or the launch on top of it.
That means you do commit to the minimum term: six months of Launch comes to £180 including VAT. After it, the plan runs month to month with 30 days’ notice, and the finished site is yours once the minimum term is paid.
So is it really free?
No, and we will not call it free. What costs nothing is getting started: no setup fee, no deposit and no design bill. What you pay for is the monthly package, which covers hosting, security, backups, monthly checks, support time and the build itself.
Domain registration and renewal, paid third-party subscriptions and separately quoted work (a shop, a redesign, a large system) are extra. We agree any extra charge with you in writing before we start.
What website do I get?
Launch is up to five standard pages with an enquiry form. Reach and Scale build on Launch with search, measurement and ongoing work, as set out in the full comparison.
Scale includes custom apps and integrations: booking and payment features, widgets, and CRM or email links. On Launch and Reach they are quoted separately, as are shops, memberships and large bespoke systems, even where a site in our gallery has them.
Who writes the text and finds the images?
We do, on every package. We draft the text and source the images for the pages included, using AI tools to work quickly. A person on our team reviews everything, and you approve it before it goes live. If you have photos or wording you want used, send them.
AI-assisted content can contain mistakes, so please read it carefully before approving. Large amounts of extra writing, such as a full set of articles, are quoted. Our privacy notice lists the AI providers we use.
Who owns the website?
Your text and images stay yours, and you can ask for a copy at any time. Once the minimum term is paid in full you own the finished bespoke website work, subject to third-party licences, and we can hand over the source for hosting elsewhere. Migration or extra technical work may be quoted. Your domain and eligible Google accounts stay in your name.
How quickly can it be live?
We confirm the delivery timing in writing before we begin, because it depends on how quickly you can send your business details, logo and any photos, and how quickly you approve each draft. We do not promise a number of days before we have seen what is involved.
What do you need from me to start?
Your business details, services, contact information and your logo if you have one. We confirm content, delivery timing, payments and any external costs in writing before beginning. No account or payment is needed to enquire.
Can I leave, or change package?
Each package has a 6-month minimum term from the day your site goes live, then continues month to month with 30 days’ notice to cancel. If you cancel during the first 6 months, the remaining monthly payments for that term are still due.
You can upgrade at any time: the higher price starts when we agree it in writing and any unused part of a yearly payment is credited. A new 6-month term starts only if the upgrade needs substantial new build work, which we agree in writing first. Moving to a lower package is possible at the end of the minimum term. The full wording is in the zxn terms.
Can I pay yearly?
Yes, and you get two months free: Launch £300 instead of £360, Reach £900 instead of £1,080, Scale £1,800 instead of £2,160, all including VAT. You pay 12 months in advance. A yearly payment covers 12 months of support. The first 6 months are the minimum term and are not refundable; if you cancel after that, we refund each full month you have not used at one twelfth of the yearly price. After the first year, support renews monthly at the standard price unless you agree a yearly renewal with us.
Do you include a domain name?
You can use a domain you already own on every package, or we can register one and manage it for you. Registration and renewal fees are charged separately.
Can I buy extra work?
Yes. An extra page, a blog article or extra improvement time can be added to any package, and anything bigger, such as a redesign, a shop or a large new system, is quoted separately. We agree the work and the price in writing before we start, so there are no surprise charges.
Are privacy and compliance included?
Every site gets appropriate privacy information and website terms, adapted from the business details you provide. Launch uses cookie-free visitor analytics. Reach and Scale add consent controls and notices for the tools installed, such as GA4.
We support UK GDPR and PECR requirements through practical configuration, data minimisation and clear notices. You remain responsible for your business’s legal obligations and approving the wording. This is implementation support, not legal advice or a compliance certification.
What does “accessible and secure” mean?
We build towards WCAG 2.2 AA, checking keyboard use, colour contrast, headings, labels and mobile layouts. Automated checks support human review; a full independent accessibility audit is a separate service.
HTTPS certificates, secure configuration, limited third-party code and recoverable source backups are included. HTTPS protects data in transit; it is not a guarantee against every security risk.
Do you promise me more customers?
No. Search engines and AI services decide how and whether to display content, so we do not guarantee rankings, citations, traffic, leads or revenue. We promise what we build, what we check each month and what we report.
Who is behind this?
Zero Cost Websites is run by Mediant Partners Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (SC889184). The packages are sold under our zxn brand at zxn.uk, and everything on the work page is something we built. More about us.
